The Smileys were planning on heading to Odesa, Ukraine to join an international church plant there. However, with the war in Ukraine escalating, they knew that was no longer possible. They prayed separately about different countries, and both felt led to join a church planting team in Tallinn, Estonia. Estonia is known as the "least religious country in the world," so this church plant team's goal is to revive the Church in Estonia through evangelism and discipleship of Estonians. They currently help run the coffee shop in the heart of the neighborhood Kalamaja as a means to reach out and love people who would never otherwise set foot inside a church. From relationships started there, Micah and Taylar run a small group out of their home, where people have an opportunity to study the Bible for the first time.
Micah was born and raised in Phoenix, AZ. Upon receiving a scholarship to the University of Michigan, Micah began his studies for a music performance degree in trombone. He found Chi Alpha during his time there, and his life was transformed forever through the discipelship and spiritual formation he received there. It was at UofM Chi Alpha where Micah felt God calling him to give a year to the mission field, and pray about a lifetime.
Taylar was born and raised in Luck, WI. After high school, she attended Impact School of Leadership to be trained in discipleship and ministry. From there, she felt God calling her to serve with a team in Kyiv, Ukraine after graduation, where she served for two years.
Micah and Taylar met while serving overseas as Missionary Associates with AGWM. Upon returning from the field, they served with the University of Michigan Chi Alpha for 4 years, during which they felt God calling them to return to overseas missions on the team in Odesa, Ukraine. They have two boys, Ezra (3) and Arlo (3 months)
